ince we began publishing in 2004, The Columbia Valley Pioneer has put together a great team:

Michelle McGrogan Asociate Publisher Michelle McGrogan has held a variety of key positions in retail, tourism, sport and the arts and leads business affairs for the Columbia Valley Pioneer. In her spare time she enjoys skiing, painting, travel and nachos.
Sally Waddington, Reporter
Manager of Special Projects Sally MacDonald is an Australian with nine years' experience on national magazines Down Under. She completed her journalism degree at the University of Technology in Sydney and spent the following years writing and editing travel, medical and entertainment magazines. Always itching to travel, Sally chose the Columbia Valley for its natural beauty and to embrace small-town living.
Brian Geis, Editor Brian Geis, Editor of the Columbia Valley Pioneer, hails from the great state of Indiana. Graduated from the Journalism School at Ball State University in Muncie, he has served as reporter, photographer and editor at a number of newspapers and has worked in corporate marketing and PR as well.
Brian Geis, Editor Reporter and photographer Kate Irwin is from England, where she graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Sheffield. Originally in the Columbia Valley to teach skiing, Kate fell in love with the beautiful mountain scenery and relaxed lifestyle and decided to make this her home. She enjoys spending time on the slopes, fishing and playing poker.
Dave Sutherland, Advertising Sales Advertising salesman Dave Sutherland found his calling as a newspaper man after spending his previous career “behind bars”, working as a bartender. He sells advertising, writes restaurant reviews and operates his own “Dave’s Hot Pepper Jelly” business at 342-0838.
Zephyr Rawbon, Graphic Designer Zephyr Rawbon is a talented Graphic Designer who moved to the Columbia Valley after spending seven years at the Canmore Leader and the Banff Crag & Canyon. A graduate of the advertising program at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario, Zephyr migrated west and enjoys the mountain lifestyle.
Zephyr Rawbon, Graphic Designer Graphic Designer Shawn Wernig, who joins us from Vancouver Island, is a guru of print design. He graduated from the North Island College with a degree in Fine Arts and Design, and is a welcome addition to our team of talented individuals. In those few spare moments between the bustling newspaper world, Shawn enjoys the quiet life hiking with his dog, biking and painting.
Zephyr Rawbon, Graphic Designer Office Assistant, Katie Wallace is from Calgary, AB and moved to the Columbia Valley in 2000 to work at Panorama where she started as a Lifty. She left for a year to complete her Architectural Drafting course at BCIT but came back to the Valley as soon as she could. In her spare time, she loves walking her two dogs and spending time with her fiance, Jim.
