Our Deadlines

The Columbia Valley Pioneer is printed in Calgary and distributed in the valley on Friday mornings.

Due to our tight printing and distribution schedule, all deadlines must be strictly enforced.

Our advertising deadlines are as follows:

1. Book your space and send us your material before 5 p.m. on Monday for the following Friday.
   
2. If you require a proof, you will receive it before Tuesday noon.
3. Please review your proof and make changes before Tuesday at 5 p.m.
4. If you require a second and final proof, sign off by 10 a.m. Wednesday. (Because of our deadlines, you will not receive more than two proofs).
5. If we do not hear from you by 10 a.m. Wednesday, your advertisement will NOT appear in the newspaper and you will NOT be invoiced.

The deadline for CLASSIFIED advertisements is noon every Tuesday.

Please Note: We urge you to book your space and have your material to us on the previous Thursday or Friday for the following week’s paper. That way, you will have sufficient time to review your proof and make changes, if necessary.

The Pioneer will make every effort to return your proof within one business day.

Paying for your Advertisement

• You will be invoiced for your advertisement at the end of each month.
• Interest at 2 percent monthly on unpaid balances will be added to your invoice after 30 days.

• A tear sheet (the newspaper page with your advertisement) will be sent if requested.

What we need from you

     Reproducing photographs:

The Pioneer can copy photographs of any size, in colour or black-and-white. We do not require the negative, but we can copy transparencies, negatives or slides.

We will accept a copy of the photograph on paper, or you can e-mail a digital photograph to us at:

     Reproducing logos:

If you have a company logo you would like to include in your advertisement, the best quality will be achieved if you provide a digital copy to us.

If someone else created your logo, please ask the designer to send us a copy by e-mail, or bring it to us on a disk.

     Reproducing words:

For the worded copy of your advertisement, please make sure it is typed or printed as clearly as possible to avoid any errors. We will attempt to correct mistakes, but please doublecheck your proof before signoff.

     Accepted electronic formats:

• InDesign Mac (images and fonts included), Illustrator, press-ready PDFs, image files such as TIFF, JPEG, and GIF (high-resolution).
• We do not accept Publisher files.

Classified Advertising

Reach thousands of readers with our Classified Ads, which can also be viewed free on our website.

The cost is only $7.50 for 15 words or less, plus 20 cents for each additional word.

GST is charged at 5%.

After the first week, the total cost decreases by $2 for each subsequent week the ad continues to run in the newspaper. (If the first week costs $7.50, then the ad costs $5.50 for week two, three, four, etc.)

For more prominence, place a BOX around your ad for an extra $5/week.

For more impact, place a PHOTO with your Classified Ad for an extra $10/week.
