Canal Flats residents reject RV resort proposal

Residents expressed outrage and frustration over the re-emergence of a development proposal in Canal Flats at a public hearing held last week.
More than 130 people gathered in the stifling heat of the Canal Flats Civic Centre Wednesday, Aug. 2nd for a public hearing on the matter of a proposed RV resort project, submitted by Benny Boyz Ventures Ltd.
The proposal is for 12 single family lots abutting the existing Bighorn Estates development and approximately 152 RV sites for recreational vehicles and park model trailers, to be leased on a yearly basis.

Stopping future debris flow in Fairmont

After a flood of debris swept through Fairmont Hot Springs five years ago officials have been hard at work to ensure a similar incident never happens again.
The debris flow triggered a series of studies and steps to mitigate future disaster. The next phase of that work is scheduled for this fall.
The Fairmont Debris Flow Mitigation project is a response to a significant event in 2012 that forced the closure of the highway and Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, affecting multiple businesses and residences. There was a further event in 2013, …

A stroll through the streets of Invermere last Saturday proved one mighty thing: this is a great place to live, in large part because of the people who make it great.
Sure, we have stunning views every which way, lakefront access in multiple locations, trails to hike or bike, four-season activities on water, the slopes and in town.

Autumn Show & Shine back in Radium

The Columbia Valley Classics club has opted to move the Autumn Show & Shine event back to Radium Hot Springs.
The decision comes after a week of uncertainty with the club, as the executive had made the decision to move the event to Copper Point Golf Club. However, talks resumed and over the weekend the announcement was made that the show was back at its usual location of the Springs golf course in Radium.
