Invermere’s Terry Fox Run will hit the streets on Sunday, September 15th to raise funds for cancer research.
Runners, walkers, cyclists, roller bladers and those in strollers or wheelchairs are all welcome to participate, but are asked to leave their dogs at home. Human participants will meet by the schoolyard at J. A. Laird Elementary School and head out at their own speeds.
“I would encourage people to participate because I see this as an opportunity to do something as a community for the greater good,” said Donna Scheffer, who is helping to coordinate the event. “Who of us has not lost a friend or family member to cancer or has someone battling for their life right now, perhaps even themselves? The Terry Fox Foundation has made great strides in finding cures/treatments for a number of cancers. We can end cancer together.”
The run is a choose-your-own-distance event with course options for those who want to do one kilometre, three kilometres, five kilometres or ten kilometres.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the start at 9 a.m..
