Dear Editor:

There was a jeer in the Friday, November 2nd edition of The Pioneer that criticizes local business for giving wealthy Albertans tax breaks, and questions why local businesses are not doing anything for B.C. taxpayers.

Just some facts here: us Albertans who have residence in the valley do pay B.C. taxes, both local and provincial, but do not enjoy the same freedoms as our B.C. neighbours, such as a right to vote on local or provincial matters. Does this sound like a true democracy or equality freedom for your fellow resident?

I am also resident owner from Alberta who has been coming to the valley for over 35 years.

So if some local business wants to give a break to their provincial neighbours, cheers to them for having the foresight to realize what these people bring to the valley.
