In this image, dated 1953, four men drill a water well near where Invermere Sales and Rentals is now located. The well was one of two that were operated by the Invermere Water Works. The wells were installed after Invermere was incorporated in 1951. They replaced a domestic water and irrigation system that had been installed by the Columbia Valley Irrigated Fruit Lands in 1912.
