Dear Editor:

I read with interest your Jumbo omission editorial on February 25th.

With respect, I suggest that the omissions were yours. You failed to give credit to an outstanding national newspaper The Globe and Mail, and the reporting expertise of Mr. Kirkby, a renowned journalist who has been extensively featured in many national publications.

The real omission was that you ignored the real issue re the Jumbo debate.

Poll and survey results over the past several years give evidence that the Jumbo resort is neither wanted nor needed.

Here are the real numbers.

1. Valley Echo – September 2002 – 97% opposed.

2. JGR Open House – Invermere – March 10/04 – 80% opposed

3. Kootenay Advertiser – April 2004 – 91% opposed

4. Invermere Town Hall Meeting – April 2004 – 76% opposed

5. Kootenay Advertiser – March 2006 – 98% opposed

6. RDEK Survey – November 2007 – 78% opposed

7. McAllister Opinion Research Poll – October 2008 – 66% opposed

8. Globe & Mail Poll – February 2011 – 76% opposed
