Police keep ‘Show and Shine’ safe
This past week, September 16 to 23, the Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 70 calls for service. The main event in the valley this week was the Radium ‘Show and Shine’.

Speeding driver impaired
On September 13 at approximately 8:30 p.m. police were conducting patrols in the Invermere area when a vehicle was observed driving at a high rate of speed and driving erratically.
Teen breaks leg in collision
On August 30 at approximately 2 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision between a dirt bike and a vehicle on Johnson Road where the teenage driver of the uninsured motorcycle suffered a broken leg.
Wind storm generated 19 calls
Of the 101 calls for service, 19 of them were generated due to the wind storm and subsequent power outages on Friday into Saturday morning.
Police respond to unclothed man yelling
The individual was agitated, yelling and threatening others in the area.
Driver nabbed for impaired
On July 24 police received a report of an impaired driver heading to Invermere from Panorama. Officers made patrols and located the vehicle and the female driver.
Bear spray used in attack
In the early hours of July 20, police responded to multiple calls of people being bear sprayed in downtown Invermere by an individual.
Autistic child wanders off, reunited with family
On July 8 police were called to a six-year-old child wandering on Highway 93/95 by himself.
Boater and hikers rescued

The Columbia Valley RCMP are looking for assistance to locate Lukas Wokoeck for outstanding warrants.
Ranch owner dies in helicopter crash
A ranch owner who was piloting a helicopter died during a crash south of Invermere on July 2. Two passengers were injured and taken to hospital.
Man, 47, drowns at Windermere Beach
A 47-year-old man has drowned in Lake Windermere.
Stolen vehicles recovered
On June 22 at 1:35 a.m. the Invermere Home Hardware compound was broken into and a yellow flat deck truck was stolen with a forklift on the back.
RCMP warning: Watch for ‘emergency scam’
Emergency fraud usually targets loving grandparents, taking advantage of their emotions to defraud them of their money.
Lock up your vehicles: police
To prevent becoming a victim of this crime, remember to lock your doors and do not leave anything in your vehicle that could tempt would-be thieves.
Travel trailers set on fire
On June 2 the Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a fire on the Akisqnuk First Nation where two travel trailers were intentionally set on fire.
Police search for missing man
The Columbia Valley RCMP are currently investigating a missing person complaint.
Minor injuries in rollover
On May 14 the Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on the Windermere Loop Road near the dump.
Property crime goes down
Property crime is down in the Columbia Valley, according to a quarterly report by RCMP Sgt. Ed deJong.
