Released by BC RCMP Communication Services

On April 30, 2021, Columbia Valley RCMP received a complaint that a woman had been allegedly been assaulted and that a firearm had been discharged near her at Lake Enid, near Invermere.

Officers responded to the area and were able to get a vehicle description from a Conservation Officer who had spoken to the male suspect the day before. Video from a RCMP traffic vehicle confirmed that the man had left the area prior to officers arriving.

The vehicle was later spotted in Invermere and was blocked in by attending officers. The man fled from his vehicle but was taken into custody with the assistance of a police service dog.

A 29-year-old man is currently in custody pending his scheduled court appearance tomorrow.
