Emergency responders had a big job on their hands February 19 at the scene of a logging truck rollover on Highway 95 near Edgewater.
The incident closed the highway and resulted in a power outage to a portion of the Columbia Valley. The Edgewater Fire Department responded with six members.
It was reported the truck driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The highway re-opened once the logs were cleared, which took quite some time.
Columbia Valley RCMP Sgt. Jeff Witzke told the Pioneer the truck was heading toward Radium Hot Springs when it failed to navigate a corner. It subsequently “hit the ditch” and took out some power lines while losing its load.
Witzke said no other vehicles were involved, confirming the driver sustained minor injuries.
