Throw on your cowboy hat and grab your Christmas sweater: The Canadian Country Christmas concert is coming to Canal Flats.
A trio of country singers are making their way to the Flats for the 14th annual Canadian Country Christmas Concert. Featuring Sean Hogan, Craig Moritz, and Thomas Wade, the show is sure to please country music fans from across the Valley.
Karen Flowers and Roxanne Cormier are taking the reins on organizing the concert this year.
“It gives the town something to do,” said Ms. Flowers. “It’s going to be a really awesome show. We’re hoping people are going to come out; it’s not every day we get this here in Canal Flats.”
Thomas Wade told the Pioneer this will be his third year doing the Christmas concert tour.
“We cover quite a spectrum of styles. There’s sort of a common thread that comes between us,” described Mr. Wade of the trio on tour. “Sean (Hogan) has sort of an Americana thing that he does, it leans toward full key roots artist take on it but still has that country background. Craig (Moritz) is very country, a lot of drinking songs.”
Mr. Wade says of his own style: “I’ve kind of run the gamut. Back in the beginning of my career I was very cutting edge pop country; it was called new country at the time. For me, it was just doing what I do.”
Mr. Wade’s latest album, ‘Blue Country Soul’, sums up his current country music style. He has gone back to his roots: an uptown pop country with a tinge of blues and R&B.
The upcoming show will feature songs from the performers fans know and love, plus some new music and a smattering of Christmas tunes mixed in.
The Canadian Country Christmas show happens Sunday, November 26th at 3 p.m. at the Canal Flats Civic Centre.
