Spring and summer art at Effusion

Gallery features new artists throughout the spring and summer

Submitted by Effusion Art Gallery

Effusion Art Gallery + Cast Glass Studio has kicked off our popular annual Creative Series early this year! Calgary-based mixed media artist Connie Geerts visited the gallery on Saturday April 14th and will be showcasing her new body of work through the Easter long weekend.

Ms. Geerts has loved art since childhood, with many fond memories of drawing at her kitchen table with her five older siblings while growing up in Ontario. She moved west and started her professional career as an artist in 1987 and has worked with many mediums before falling in love with acrylic painting. Ms. Geerts later studied bronze casting in Mexico, which evolved into her other passion of cast glass sculpture. She loves that glass offers the same mutable translucency of color as acrylic paint, just in a three-dimensional form.

In addition to Ms. Geerts, Effusion has an exciting line-up of visiting artists this spring and summer. Over the May long weekend, we will feature local cast glass artist Heather Cuell and new work by gallery artists. On June 15th, Balgonie Saskatchewan artist Kimberly Kiel will be visiting with her show Outside the Lines, a collection of thirty brand new oil and mixed media paintings. Over the Canada Day long weekend, Effusion will be running a gallery-wide show celebrating the spectacular natural beauty of the regional landscapes and animals of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Mixed media artist David Zimmerman will be visiting from Bragg Creek July 13th, leading a fun painting event that will benefit a local cause, and featuring his latest work. Langley-based jewelry artist Karyn Chopik will be at the gallery July 19th and 20th with her new collection and one-of-a-kind pieces for her popular annual trunk show.

New to the gallery this year, Calgary artist Jillaine Jurchuk will be visiting with her new mixed media collection. Hailing all the way from Elora Ontario, abstract mixed media artist Joel Masewich will be at the gallery August 24th with his new collection and creating live with his signature mixture of acrylic paint and metal.
