With the increasing popularity of craft distilling, Fairmont Hot Springs Resort will be hosting the second annual East Kootenay Distillery Festival on Saturday, April 22nd.

With the success weve had with our East Kootenay Beer and Wine Festivals, we thought that a Distillery Festival might capture a brand new group of people and further expand our Resort offering, said Fairmont Resort marketing coordinator Rachel Dick.

The festival will feature unlimited spirit tasting showcasing unique spirits from some of B.C.s best craft distilleries. Gourmet hors doeuvres will be served alongside the tasting. Tickets for the festival are $45 (not including tax) and include access to the main tasting event, which takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the downstairs conference rooms at the main lodge. Tickets also include access to the after-party in the Bears Paw Bar & Grill featuring live music by local favourites, the Smalltown Dirt Bags.

For locals from Golden to Cranbrook looking to come up for the night, the Resort is offering an $89 room rate on Saturday night with the purchase of Distillery Festival tickets.

And, new this year, we are offering a special weekend package for $390 for two people and this includes a three-course spirit-paired dinner on Friday, April 21st, a mixology seminar in the afternoon on Saturday, access to the main tasting event on Saturday and access to the after-party in Bears Paw Bar & Grill, said Ms. Dick.

More than 30 kinds of spirits will be poured for those in attendance. A few of the participating distilleries include: Bohemian Spirits, Kootenay Country Craft Distillery, Maple Leaf Spirits Inc., Highwood Distillers and the Ampersand Distilling Company.
