Thanks to the hard work and dedication of firefighters, the RDEK has rescinded the evacuation order and alert for the Island Pond wildfire northwest of Premier Lake.
The rescinded order includes two civic addresses south of Island Pond, while the rescinded alert includes 67 civic addresses northwest of Premier Lake.
The wildfire that broke out on July 20 is now classified as being ‘held’ and is not expected to grow further or beyond its boundaries.
Elsewhere, the evacuation alerts remain in place for 281 civic addresses for the Madias Creek wildfire, which is also being held.
