The Columbia Valley RCMP is working with search and rescue crews to locate a 26-year-old man who is presumed drowned on Lake Windermere.
On September 16 at approximately 3:10 p.m., police received a call for assistance after a man had gone in the water off a rental pontoon boat and did not resurface. The RCMP, local firefighters and members of Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (SAR) attended the area but were not able to locate the male.
“The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team is enroute to Invermere and will be deployed in the search on Monday morning,” said Sgt. Ed DeJong. Until then, SAR will be out conducting additional searches today along with the RCMP boat.
