A motorist involved in a collision with a semi-truck and trailer on Highway 93 on Monday died at the scene, according to police.
Columbia Valley RCMP Sgt. Jeff Witzke told the Pioneer that the driver and single occupant of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased, while the operator of the semi truck was not injured. The deceased was a male in the 30s with connections to the community, Witzke said.
“The RCMP have completed their investigation and are not pursuing this matter any further. The road conditions are believed to have been a factor,” the officer noted.
Police and fire crews were called to the scene at Kootenay Crossing warden station, 42 km north of Radium Hot Springs at approximately 7 a.m. on Monday.
