Christopher Brock Evans, aged 75 of Invermere, B.C., passed away from advanced prostate cancer on March 4, 2020.
Chris is survived by his wife of 50 years Charleen, sister Annabel (Roy), children Meaghan and Craig(Florence), granddaughter Hannah, and nephews and nieces Geoffrey, Lesley, Lyndsey, Matt, Luke, and Lori. Chris grew up in Bradford, Ontario.
While attending McMaster University, he was a member of the Officer Training UNTD program. He enlisted as an Officer in the Canadian Navy until 1968, after which he joined IBM as a Sales Representative. Over 25 years, Chris built a successful career working with IBM in Toronto, Kitchener, New York, and Calgary. He became one of two IBM Project Managers for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, and after retirement in 1992, he continued to act as a Management Consultant for several years. In 2002, Chris and Charleen moved to the Columbia Valley and became active members of the Valley community. He was a Board Member and President of the Columbia Valley Arts Council, and a Tenor for the Valley Voices Choir. Chris loved singing, reading, golf, and connecting with good friends and family. Chris’ generosity of spirit, and huge capacity for love was so apparent. Chris lived in Gratitude and understood the importance of being of service to others. He often spoke about family that: “If ever I could sit across the porch from God, I would thank God for loaning you to me.”
His beautiful presence will continue to grace all the lives he touched. The family would like to express thanks for the wonderful care and respect given by Drs. Johnson and Fleet, along with the doctors and nurses at the Invermere Hospital. To the staff and community at Columbia House who warmly received us in the Day Program, we are grateful for your continued dedication and generosity.
