Elizabeth Gale “Bonnie” Merrin

Elizabeth Gale (Bonnie) Merrin, beloved wife of Donald, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Victoria General Hospital on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the age of 74 years.

Bonnie was born on June 1, 1944 in Vancouver. She was raised in West Vancouver and spent many childhood days at her family cabin at Halfmoon Bay. This is where she met the love of her life Don who she married on September 15,1967. Shorty after they moved their tiny family to Alberta, settling in Calgary where they ran a family business.

Bonnie and Don were fortunate to retire early to Windermere B.C. in the mid-1990s. A passionate gardener, artist, crossword champion, Bonnie loved to travel and went on many great adventures with Don to Europe, Australia and Asia. More recently they enjoyed winters in Cabo and Victoria and summers at their home in Windermere.

While Bonnie had many passions, her greatest joy was being a grandmother. Known as Grandma B to Presley, Carter, Elyse and Reese, Bonnie loved spending countless hours with them talking, doing crafts, playing and laughing.

Bonnie leaves behind her husband Don, son Rick (Tara); daughters Andrea (Matt) and Christina, her beloved grandchildren, sister Lynn Traunweiser (Al) of Victoria B.C, sister in law Barbara Schick (Jeffery) of Sherman Oaks, California and numerous nieces and nephews. She goes to be reunited with her parents John B.and J.Elaine Simpson of Halfmoon Bay B.C, and brother George B. Simpson of West Vancouver B.C.
