Kay Caspell

Mar 22, 2018

Kay left us on March 22nd 2018. She passed away peacefully surrounded by friends. Kay joins her devoted husband Stan who died in 1999 and her beloved son Bill who died in 1995 while hunting in these mountains which he loved.

Kay or Aunty Kathy or Grandma Kay or Kathleen Alice was born in Three Hills Alberta. She lived in Cranbrook and Nanaimo before making her home with Stan, Ruth, Peggy and Bill in Invermere in 1960.

In the early years in Invermere she worked as a hairdresser though she was always home at noon to give her children lunch. Kay was very involved in her church and community. She had friends from all walks of life and participated in United Church functions, Lady Lions, Bible Study, and The Knitting Group. One of Kay’s greatest passions was enjoying tea and goodies, especially muffins, with anyone who dropped by. She generously shared her home and heart and the Caspell door was always open.

For her last year and a half Kay lived happily at Columbia Garden Village with old friends and as usual was always making new ones. These included her many caregivers who she also considered friends. Throughout her life Kay was known to talk to anyone in a line up, waiting room, restaurant or out on the streets. People always felt cared for when talking to Kay.

Kay will be fondly remembered by her many friends; the nephews and nieces with whom she kept in close contact; her grandchildren Pax, Sheree, Shay, Janine and Josh; their 6 children; her 3 step-grandchildren; her two doting sons-in-law Larry and Gary and her daughters Peggy and Ruth.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Kay on Saturday, May 19th at 2 pm at Christ Church Trinity on 7th Ave. We welcome anyone who would like to attend.

In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice or one of Kay’s favourite’s – Covenant House Vancouver which supports street youth with food, housing and counselling. 604-638-GIFT (4438) [email protected].
