Shirley Carter

December 29, 1927 -
August 1, 2019

Shirley passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the age of 91.
She was born in Radville, SK and moved with her Mom and Dad to Moose Jaw, and later to Swift Current where she remained until she and her husband, Jack, moved their family to Calgary in 1962. Shirley was a long-time resident of Fairmont Hot Springs and we have many fond memories of the parties she hosted. She was truly the queen of decorating!
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Diane Carter and Donna L’Amarca (Terry), and her daughter-in-law, Sue Chapman. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Ted Riehl; her former husband, Jack Carter; and her son, David Carter.
Shirley was a wonderful mother and a loyal friend. She was known for her amazing generosity and, in keeping with that, if friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favourite charity.
At Shirley’s request, there will be no funeral service.
Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com
Special thanks to her We Care companions and the staff at United Active Living Fish Creek for making her feel so at home during the past year.
In living memory of Shirley Carter, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by Mcinnis & Holloway Funeral Homes.

God Looked
God looked around His garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered, “Peace be Thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
