Elizebeth Ellen “Beth” Shymko

Elizebeth Ellen (Beth) Shymko died in Kamloops on April 4 after losing a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Invermere hospital on June 6, 1953, the youngest child of Stephen and Margaret (Stoddart) Shymko. She graduated with honours from the local high school and after moving to Kamloops worked for the Hudson’s Bay store where she was responsible for its unionization within the Steelworkers’ Union and went on to hold executive positions within the Union.

She was predeaceased by her parents and longtime partner Rocky Morrisette but leaves to grieve her son, Dan Reuters and his two children, siblings Dianna (Tritscher), David and Stan Shymko, several nieces and nephews, aunt Bernice (Stoddart) Hathaway as well as special friend/caregiver Reg Seymour.

A celebration of her life is planned for June 15 in Kamloops.
