Gizella was a daughter, sister and our mother who was taken away suddenly after a short but courageous battle with cancer at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Gizella who came to Canada in 1957 is now in the arms of her parents in Sopron, Hungary. She was a beautiful, kind-hearted and lovely lady with a heart of gold. We will forever cherish the memories of her and she will remain in our hearts and souls until we meet again.

She is survived by her three sons, Leslie Markus (Golden, B.C.) and her grandchildren Shawn, Melanie and Lisa, and four great-grandchildren. Steven Markus and his wife Missy and grandchildren Katherine and Jessica (Radium Hot Springs, B.C.) and Alex Markus and grandchild Ryan (Kelowna, B.C.) and daughter Irene Markus and fiancé Rod Robertson (Cumberland, B.C.), grandson Jayson Wenzoski (Courtenay, B.C.), and granddaughter Diona Davies (Galiano Island, B.C.) She is also survived by her sisters Anna (Vienna, Austria), Ermus (Gyor, Hungary) and many nieces and nephews in Hungary.

Gizella Markus will return to Sopron, Hungary to be laid to rest with the rest of her family, where we will have a formal celebration of life.
