Harry also leaves to mourn his passing his 4 grandchildren: Vicky, Laura, Christy and Kurt as well as his 11 great grandchildren: James, Travis, Erica, Max, Nick, Luke, Katie, Angelica, Alexa, Evan and Noah. He was predeceased by his first wife of 50 years, Klara and by his parents and siblings in Germany. Harry was born in Germany where he was trained to be a baker at the age of 14. This became his lifelong trade. In May of 1953 Harry came to Canada with his wife, Klara and two young children. He worked on two farms, and later did landscaping during the day while working in a bakery at night. Due to Harry’s hard working nature he worked in and owned several of his own bakeries in Saskatchewan, Calgary, Banff, Cochrane and Cranbrook. A Celebration of Harry’s life will be held in the Chapel of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street, Red Deer on Wednesday, July 14th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Bruce MacArthur, Funeral Celebrant, officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Parkland Reception Centre, and then a private interment service will be held at Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Harry’s memory may be made directly to The Lending Cupboard Society (LCS), 5406C – 43 Street, Red Deer, AB, T4N 1C9 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
