Kathleen “Kay” Frater

April 28, 2010

It is with deep sadness that the family of Kay Frater announces her passing into the Lord’s hands on April 28, 2010.

Kay was born on July 22, 1922 in Fort MacLeod, Alta. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family.

As a young girl, her family moved to Invermere where she attended school. She later joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at Paulsen, Man. with the rank of Corporal. After the war she was employed at Vancouver General Hospital, St. Eugene Hospital in Cranbrook and Pynelogs Hospital in Invermere. After returning to Invermere she met and married James Thomas Frater, on Sept. 11, 1948.

Kay is survived by her three children, Wayne (Linda) Frater, Wanda (Leroy) Koop, and Betty-Jean (Fritz) Feldmann. Her six grandchildren, Everett (Alanna) Frater, Jeffrey Frater, Royce (Denisa) Koop, Jordan Koop, Stefan (Jana) Feldmann, and Marlow Feldmann. Great-grandchildren, Jesse and Reneah Frater and many nieces and nephews. Her brother, George (Audrey) Thornton.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2000, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be held on May 7th at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Church Trinity in Invermere. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbia House Extended Care.

The family would like to express our thanks to Dr. Dibb for caring for Mom and to the Staff of Columbia House for your awesome love and acceptance of Kay. You are an amazing bunch.
