
Palmer, John William Ender
John William Ender Palmer passed away on Monday, August 7th at the age of 82. John is survived by his common-law spouse Sandra Thetford of 20 years; his 3 daughter’s Anne Temple with husband Kyle, Susanne Wolstenholme with husband Curtis and Jennifer Steeves with husband Russell; his grandchildren Ashley, Haylee, Tianna, Joss, Sarah, Jacob, John, Cole and Taylor; his great-grandchildren Hudson and Ariah; his brother Marvin Palmer, sister Sherry Paul and his late sister Elaine Smith along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Capt. John (Jock) Ender Palmer and Ivy Tegart Palmer.
John was born on July 8th, 1941 in Lethbridge, Alberta. He and his family moved to High River, Alberta where he graduated from High River High School. After high school John pursued his hockey career by playing both junior hockey and semi-pro.
Proceeding his hockey career John moved to Calgary and pursued a career in real estate working for Milton and Royal Le Page for 20+ years. Tired of the hustle and bustle of city life John moved to the small community of Brisco, BC where he lived on the Rock-a-boo Ranch which is nestled in the Columbia Valley, also where his ancestors resided for many years. There he raised quarter horses, cattle and sheep.
John was an avid painter, story teller, and poet. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was very proud of his heritage. His father Capt. John Ender Palmer (nickname Jock) is known as the “Grandfather of Alberta Aviation” and John is also a descendant of one of the first pioneering families of the Columbia Valley.
Funeral services will be held off at this time and a celebration of John’s life will occur in the summer of 2024.
