Thank you for the informative article Home Fires Burning: the Inequitable Side of Canada at War (in the May 19th Pioneer).

To this day many Canadians are still unaware of what happened to Ukrainians and other Europeans needlessly imprisoned as enemy aliens and forced to do heavy labour during Canadas first national internment operations of 1914-1920.

For those of us who savour our national parks it is important to keep in mind how forced labour created much of the infrastructure that we still benefit from to this day, a century later.
