On Sept. 20, Columbia Lake Recreation Centre (CLRC) will have a fundraising (taco sale) event for the Aq?am families who lost their homes to the St. Mary’s River fire.
“Anyone who wants a taco and wants to support the fundraiser is welcome to come and participate,” said Nevada Nicholas, a staff member from CLRC.
The CLRC will sell fried bread tacos for $12 each, including drinks. It will take place from 12 p.m to 3 p.m. Pre-orders and walk-ins are available.
Nicholas said that staff will be cooking the tacos on their own time with the help of the centre’s kitchen. The tacos will be served in the mural room.
“It feels good. We know people who lost their homes, so to be able to do something like this for them makes us all happy to help in some little way,” Nicholas shared. “We hope to have a really good turnout so we can raise a decent amount for the families.”
The money raised will go directly towards ?Aq?am First Nation families.
