Once again, Invermere has proven to be a giving community by raising $340,000 for a new ultrasound service for its hospital.
The East Kootenay Foundation for Health fundraising campaign called ‘Beneath the Surface’ started in January and has already raised the money —a $150,000 from the Invermere Health Care Auxiliary, $20,000 from the Panorama Foundation, and over $171,000 in donations from across the community.
The funds will cover a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, renovations to the room, and all the technology and accessories required to run the service. This work is expected to begin shortly. Ultrasound is performed on every type of patient, whether you are a pregnant mother, an elderly person having breathing problems, or a child with abdominal pains.
East Kootenay Foundation Executive Director Brenna Hong said they are very grateful to the “amazing” community of Invermere for its dedication in improving health care for the Columbia Valley.
“We are so pleased that Invermere and District Hospital will finally have their own ultrasound, saving residents travel and time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
