Motorists can expect rain showers and foggy patches across the East Kootenay region tonight, Feb. 1, with the road and air temperatures near or slightly below freezing that brings the potential for black ice in the Kimberley and Moyie area.

The exception will be Panorama with light snow for the overnight hours of 3-6cm. Showers will continue for Tuesday and flurries for Panorama. Temperatures drop Tuesday night so any wet surfaces will freeze with snow showers lingering around the region. Mainly dry conditions for Wednesday.

For Crowsnest, there is the potential of two to four cm with potential higher amounts closer to the B.C. border. Just trace snowfall amounts for lower elevations. Temperatures drop Tuesday night with periods of snow forecast generally across the region. Dry conditions return by Wednesday afternoon.

Motorists should expect unsettled weather, check Drive BC before heading out, drive to the prevailing conditions, and prepare for delays caused by the weather.

Mainroad will be applying anti-icing chemicals and performing snow removal operations where necessary that will continue on all highways until the event passes and roadways are returned to the acceptable standard.
