Dear Editor:

I am appalled at the lack of respect shown by Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino to Canadian vets. This behaviour is from a minister in a government which purports to be a great friend of the military. What nonsense!

Stephen Harper clearly only cares about soldiers when they are putting their lives on the line. He doesnt give a damn about them when they come home injured, physically or mentally. His governments cutting of a soldiers pension in favour of a one-time payment speaks volumes about his true feelings about the military. He is happy to waste $28 million celebrating the long-gone War of 1812, then turn around and short change vets of the 21st century by cutting $35 million from Veterans Affairs and closing Veterans Affairs centres.

Mr. Harper and his government continue to be an embarrassment to all Canadians.
